About Us

What is the goal of the race?

The goal of the Father's Day Walk/Run for Prostate Cancer is to utilize the event to help raise awareness of Prostate Cancer, to encourage men to get involved and take preventative measures with their health, and to raise money in support of research. People of all ages and backgrounds come together to support men who are suffering from Prostate Cancer and to remember those who have lost their lives to the disease.

Among the forms of cancer affecting men, prostate cancer produces the second highest death rate. One in seven Canadian men will develop clinically significant prostate cancer in his lifetime. It is the most common type of cancer in men, yet public awareness remains low.

A common myth with prostate cancer is that it is an "old man's" disease . This is not the case. It can affect men as young as in their 20's. It becomes a more significant factor for men in their 40's and older.
